Tragic Update - October 16, 2025

It with the greatest sadness that I share my father, Zhiwen Wang, passed away on October 16, 2025 in Beijing, China. He leaves behind his daughter, Xiaodan, and son-in-law, Jeff, who will continue to work to stop the persecution of millions of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

My father, Zhiwen Wang was illegally detained in a labor camp from July 20th, 1999 to October 14, 2014 because he practiced Falun Gong. Falun Gong emphasizes being a good person by following Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and practicing Falun Gong exercises.

Even though he was able to return home in 2014 he was under constant surveillance.

In 2016, I visited my father in China to help him immigrate to the United States. He had received a passport from the Chinese authorities and we took him through the steps to get his visa officially approved by the U.S. government.

We were chased all over the country by undercover agents and harassed by police. When we tried to exit the country the border patrol took his passport and destroyed it! It was truly heartbreaking because we followed every legal step and they still persecuted him!

For the next nine years, he was under constant surveillance and followed by police everywhere he went. Although Zhiwen was still restricted, he lived his life nobly and shared his compassionate view with everyone he came into contact with. Even in the face of decades of injustice, he bore no grudge against anyone.

In October 2025, he was taken to a hospital in Beijing against his will where he passed away under suspicious circumstances. A group of police monitored his room and even video recorded the final days of his life.

In the months leading up to his death, the local police asked when I would return to China, claiming they would use all of their power to enable my safe return. In all the years of persecution, they never did us any favors. If they truly cared about my father, they should have used their power to enable my father safe passage to the US!

As long as the persecution continues, we still your help to raise awareness. We need to ensure the tragic fate of my beloved father does not end in vain.
